Funding made available by ESAB for local safeguarding projects

Funding is to be made available in Essex for projects designed to improve the lives of vulnerable adults in the county.

The Safeguarding Adults Project is a partnership project led by the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board (ESAB) and Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS).

ESAB has made up to £30,000 available per year for the next two years which it hopes will see local organisations bid to deliver projects which deliver upon key findings within its report published recently.

To date the project has drawn upon the concerns of vulnerable adults across the county through a survey which asked questions about their experiences and perceptions. Concerns raised by vulnerable people through the survey included nervousness whilst using public transport, a lack of confidence to go out, and poor awareness of hate crime and abuse.

Simon Hart, Chair of the Essex Safeguarding Adults Board said:
“The project provides a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to improve the lives of vulnerable people in Essex. By taking a partnership approach I am certain that we work together to provide much needed support to the most vulnerable adults in our community.”

Kirsty O’Callaghan, Chief Executive of Castle Point Association of Voluntary Services said:
“The Safeguarding Adult Project looks to build upon the recent success of the Be Safer Project which has brought about significant improvements for people with Learning disabilities. We hope that this project can have similar success with other groups.”
Bids for projects received by ESAB throughout 2012 and 2013 will go through a process of consultation with local groups for approval before being approved by an overarching panel. For more information see contact details below.
