Channels

Channels

Channel is about safeguarding individuals who may be vulnerable to radicalisation. It works on a local level in a very similar way as to other safeguarding projects. Its aim is to provide a degree of protection to individuals who have been brought to the attention of the Panel. This could be done by utilising the skills from one of the partners such as Education or Mental Health, but where necessary Channel has the ability to bring in skill interventionists if the issues involved concern Ideology/religion or in some cases extreme political views.
WRAP (Working to Raise Awareness of Prevent) is a Home Office training session which takes 2 hours,  which sets the context for the prevent agenda and how joint agency work such as Channel is crucial its implementation and the protection of our communities and to individuals at risk of radicalisation. It is specifically designed for staff in public sectors organisations who have direct contact with members of the public and their supervisors.
