Live in Braintree? Inspired by the London Olympics? Want to try out a parlympic sport?

On Saturday 1st September Braintree District Council is offering residents of all ages the opportunity to try out the Paralympics sport of wheelchair basketball for free. This is a great opportunity for everyone who has been inspired by the London 2012 Games to come along and try out a Paralympics sport. It’s also a great way to challenge perceptions about disability, and enable even more people in the district to get involved in sport.

Essex Outlaws Wheelchair Basketball Team will be delivering the sessions at Notley Sports Centre, Notley Road, Braintree, CM7 1WY

10am-12pm      Ages 11-17
12pm – 2pm     Ages 18 upwards.

The free sessions are open to able bodied players, players with physical and sensory impairments and with learning disabilities. Participants don’t have to be wheelchair users to take part, as all the equipment will be provided by the coaches. Family and friends not taking part are welcome to stay to watch the activities.

Places must be booked in advance with the Community Development Team by calling 01376 552525 or by completing the attached booking form and returning by email to communitydevelopment@braintree.gov.uk.
