14th WAVE Conference - 18th-20th October 2012

Women's Aid has announced the 14th WAVE Conference, hosted this year by Women's Aid federations and Imkaan in London at the Holiday Inn, Bloomsbury, London.

WAVE is a network of European women's non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in the field of combating violence against women and children. The network comprises of approximately 4000 women's organisations in 46 countries of Europe and is the only European network focusing solely on the elimination of violence against women and children.

This 3 day conference is free of charge to those working within the third sector although the 19th and 20th October are open to those from independent, women-led organisations and academic feminist experts only. The first day only will be open to all with a £50 charge for non-third sector delegates.

Overview of conference

This exciting conference will give delegates the opportunity to discuss current UK policy and legislation as well as looking at the problems faced by all women and children who have experienced gender-based violence, and service providers, and place this within a European context. This is a great opportunity to share good practice and help find possible solutions by sharing the experiences of both the policies and practice of those working to fight violence against women and children within Europe.

Who should attend

The public day, Thursday 18th October, is aimed at those from all professions coming into contact with violence against women and children as a part of their work and those committed to ending violence against women and children or those who simply want to learn more about the important work that is being done. The 19th and 20th of October will be open to those from independent, women-led organisations and academic feminist experts.
